Quality support that fits your situation.

Interim quality leadership or focused support with a process, supplier, team or investment project. I help you define the priorities and turn them into a practical assignment.

02 · Manufacturing performance

Manufacturing & Process Improvement

Focused support when defects, scrap, unreliable inspection or process variation keep returning.

How I help

I examine how the process actually runs, whether measurements can be trusted and where requirements, methods or technical conditions fall short. Together with operators and engineers, I investigate causes and test practical changes. Depending on the problem, this can include measurement studies, process capability analysis, statistical process control or designed experiments.

Typical deliverables

  • An assessment of process and measurement weaknesses.
  • Test findings and recommended process or inspection changes.
  • Updated work instructions, control routines and practical coaching.

The Rabbit Hole Effect: beyond a warning limit

Interim Quality Transformation Lead

A request to halve a warning limit became a focused investigation. Working with the team and equipment suppliers, I helped turn process insights into lower and more stable porosity readings.

At FrieslandCampina, I was asked to approve a request to halve the warning limit for a porosity measurement. The aim was to help operators intervene earlier.

I asked to review the data and speak with the operators first. The analysis indicated that a substantial proportion of existing measurements would exceed the proposed limit. Before changing it, we needed to understand what was driving the readings and how the process could be improved.

We first checked whether the measurements could be trusted. A Gauge R&R study and discussions with the instrument manufacturer showed that the measurement system was sufficiently reliable to support the investigation.

The next questions took us into the relationship between process conditions, equipment performance and working methods. Each finding opened up another part of the process to examine and helped us identify opportunities for improvement.

We combined structured experiments (DOE) with practical testing and close collaboration with the team and equipment suppliers. This helped us translate the findings into improvements to process settings and supporting methods. The result was lower and more stable porosity readings.

We came to call this the Rabbit Hole Effect: each finding led to another question, deeper in the process. An improvement opportunity had been hidden inside a request to change a number. Understanding why the change was requested led us to the underlying causes and to a more stable process.

03 · Supplier capability

Supplier Quality Development & Auditing

Support with supplier selection, recurring nonconformities, supply changes or concerns about a supplier’s capability.

How I help

I assess supplier processes, requirements and controls, then work with purchasing, engineering and the supplier to agree what needs to improve. Assignments can include qualification, process audits, corrective action follow-up and supplier development. Where relevant, I also support product quality planning, production part approval and the quality aspects of sourcing changes.

Typical deliverables

  • Supplier assessment or audit findings with clear priorities.
  • An agreed improvement plan with responsibilities and follow-up.
  • Defined quality requirements, approval steps and change controls.

04 · People and organisation

Quality Team Assessment & Development

A practical review when responsibilities are unclear, capabilities are uneven or the quality function needs to meet changing expectations.

How I help

I look at the team’s responsibilities, workload, skills and working relationships with production, engineering and management. Through discussion and observation, I identify what works and what makes the job difficult. I help translate this into clearer roles, realistic priorities and development that connects directly to daily work.

Typical deliverables

  • A practical view of team strengths and development needs.
  • Recommendations for roles, responsibilities and collaboration.
  • A focused development plan and coaching on the job.

05 · From requirements to acceptance

Project Quality & Acceptance

Quality support for new equipment, major modifications and investment projects, from specification through testing and handover.

How I help

I work with engineering, production, quality and suppliers to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria and plan inspections and tests. This can include factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT) and readiness reviews. I help make findings and outstanding actions visible so the responsible teams can make informed acceptance and handover decisions.

Typical deliverables

  • Project quality plans and practical acceptance criteria.
  • Inspection and test plans, findings and action tracking.
  • A clear view of readiness, open items and handover requirements.
